BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The Board of Trustees authorized advertising for installation of synthetic field turf districtwide at the May 23, 2005, Board meeting. This bid was properly advertised, and bid documents were sent to four bidders, three of whom submitted bids. Of these three, the bid submitted by A-Turf did not meet the specifications, and the bid submitted by Sprinturf was not opened, as it was received one hour after the bid deadline.
CURRENT CONSIDERATIONS
This agenda item pertains to the award of Bid No. 0506-04 for installation of synthetic field turf at qualified school sites districtwide. Sportexe, Inc., submitted a conforming bid, and is the company who successfully installed the new stadium field at San Clemente High School last summer. All bid documents were submitted properly.
Exhibit A is a recap of the bid prices received from Sportexe, Inc.
The term of this contract will commence July 1, 2005, and continue through June 30, 2006, with an option to extend the bid for four additional consecutive years (48 months).
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS
It is estimated that the total cost of projects to be completed for the 2005/06 school year will be approximately $1 million per school. Funding will come from the appropriate accounts.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully requested that Board President Marlene Draper recognize Superintendent Dr. James A. Fleming, who will comment on this item. Daniel J. Crawford, Deputy Superintendent, Support Services Division and staff will be available to answer any questions Trustees may have.
Following discussion, it is respectfully recommended that the Board of Trustees award Bid No. 0506-04 for installation of synthetic field turf to Sportexe, Inc., at the prices shown in Exhibit A.
